After much discussion and careful consideration, the AKVMA Board made the difficult decision to cancel the AKVMA Symposium in Anchorage (October 2 – 4, 2020) this year. The health, safety, and wellbeing of the veterinary community is our foremost priority, and with so much uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic we believe canceling is the best way to protect our members, speakers, guests, and exhibitors.
In addition, the Alaska Board of Veterinary Examiners has waived all CE requirements for this licensure period (see the link to the notice) and based on our membership survey it was determined that participation in CE activities would be low this year. There will not be a “virtual meeting” held as an alternative.
While we are greatly disappointed to cancel the symposium this year, we look forward to future opportunities that will bring the membership together in a safe and responsible way.
